THIS IS WEISS. (Pronounced "Vise"). He was born in May of 1998 and he was our first show dog. We spent a goodly amount of time researching purebred collies and all the advantages of buying from a reputable breeder. So we went to see Judy Evans, of Clarion Collies, up in New York state and fell in love with this sweet little white collie.
Then we started going to dog shows. We watched what the judges did. We watched what the collies did and what their handlers did. And as with any new thing one does it can be a bit confusing, even intimidating, in the beginning. But we really learned a lot from having this dog. Then we saw that the Collie Club of America National was going to be in Kentucky in 2001. So Jennie, and her breeder friend Marguerite McGrath of Clandara Collies, loaded up the van and drove to Kentucky. Good thing too because Weiss (Clarion Edelweiss En Schnee) won his class!
This fluffy collie, and we call him fluffy because there's nothing rough about him, is so sweet and gentle. He's the first one to notice if there is something wrong with a person. We jokingly call him the nurse of the bunch because he likes to try and comfort those in distress. Weiss is retired from the show circuit and loves to lounge, and frolic, out back with the rest of the collies.
